Kelly Sutherland

Meet Kelly Sutherland from Melbourne, Australia.

Hi, I will be 17 as of July 2000 and I live in Australia. None of my friends my age had ever heard of America before I told them, but I annoy them anyway by telling them how much I love it all the time.

It was about a year ago when I first heard one of their songs. I was staying at my dad's place. It was about 10 am one morning and I heard this music coming from the lounge room. I laid in bed listening to this wonderful sound but I didn't have the energy to get up and ask what it was. Later on that day I forgot the tune and I got really depressed because I LOVED THAT SONG!!!!!

Then one night at home I fell asleep with the radio on (Gold FM rocks! Excuse the pun) and I woke up at about 5 am to this same fantastic song. I nearly went troppo. I got my keyboard out (which has now passed away *sob* - not a good idea to leave dead batteries inside for too long) and started playing the tune and the bass. That day I played it to mum and asked her if she knew which song it was. She then told me it was "A Horse With No Name" by America. The next time I was at my dad's I borrowed the CD, "History", and didn't want to give it back it was so good!

About a month ago my dad offered me his old record player which was collecting dust at my grandparents' place, because he knew how much I love 60s and 70s music. Once I had it in my hot little hand I went on an expedition to the garage to find some old records. And what did I find? HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!! By AMERICA!!! I couldn't contain myself. It was the first record I listened to out of the fifty million I found. I was ecstatic because now I had my own copy, although it's not as good as the CD because there's this huge scratch in the middle of "A Horse With No Name" *sigh*.

So there you have it. I endeavour to buy more CDs and records when (and if) I get the money. My favourite songs are "A Horse With No Name" for sentimental reasons, "Tin Man" and "Daisy Jane". I just hope that the dynamic duo come to Melbourne in the near future. If they are, I'M THERE!!!!

I WILL BE AN AMERICA FAN FOR LIFE.

Feel free to send your comments or questions to Kelly.
