T. K. Holly decided to hold a contest to create an album cover for an imaginary (but much hoped for) box set by America. I had several ideas for an album cover but when Kelly Ewles and T. K. offered to give away an autographed copy of the Hourglass CD to the winner, the creative juices started to flow.

I searched for some old photos of the guys to grace the front and back cover along with a fairly recent photo. Then I picked the photo that I thought would look the best and put it on the front and faded the sky into a pure white background where I could put the America logo, the title, and the recent photo.

The title was the next bridge that I had to cross. I knew it had to begin with "H" because all of the successful America albums have begun with "H". I found several promising titles like "Hacienda", "Hall of Fame", "Homestead", "Headline", "Heirloom", "Heritage", and "High Point". Then it struck me that America fans have been clamoring for a box set and it's about "High Time" they got one. So that's the title that I used.

My final effort was to pick 80 songs to go in the box set. That was really tough. I made sure that I included all of the unreleased material that I was aware of and then I included my favorite songs from the released albums. I ended up cutting about 30 songs from my original list to pare it down to 80.

After looking at the finished product, I think it turned out pretty good. Even if I don't win the Hourglass CD, it was fun putting it together and I hope everyone else can enjoy looking at it and dreaming that one day it will become a reality.
